Hi There! We have teamed up with Gobena Coffee to raise funds for our adoption. $4 from every item purchased will go to our adoption fund. On top of that we have received a matching grant, so that $4 becomes $8! Thanks for your support and enjoy the fresh roasted coffee.
Have you heard our testimony?
Back in 2007 we met a little boy in Zambia, Africa named Joe. He was attending an orphan camp we were working with and we fell in love with him immediately. When we visited again in 2008 we felt the Lord’s leading to get him tested for HIV. He tested positive and we immediately felt we were to pursue adopting him. We had already had a home study done in the States for foster care and so we pushed on to do all we could in country, but alas we were deemed too young – we needed to be 21 years older than him and we fell short at 19 years. We got him set up with a local clinic (he is healthy and doing so great now!) and we still support him to live in a loving children’s home. Although our plans were to have him home with us, we know and trust that God has big plans for our “baby Joe” there in Zambia. All that to say, from that moment forward we knew without a doubt that we would grow our family through adoption one day. It confirmed our theological belief that adoption here in this world is a great picture of God’s own rescue act in all of our lives as He’s made us His own children through adoption. Although it was heartbreaking for us that we weren’t able to officially adopt Joe, instead of only being a “closed door” we see it as the opening of our adoption journey. Since that time we have tried several times to open our home via foster care and looked into international adoption only to have been met with a “not now” for various reasons. We’ve now been living overseas working cross-culturally for three years and the time is right! We are praising Jesus that our “now” has come! So many of our close friends have added to their families by way of adoption and therefore we have seen all of the sides this story can hold. We know it can be messy and hard – but we’ve also seen the redemption, the restoration, and the love. We are over the moon excited for our next little one to come home. We are excited to be adopting from Kyrgyzstan, a country with a history and culture quite similar to the country we currently live and do ministry in. We’re adopting a 0-4 year old girl and look forward to receiving her picture and information SOON! God has blessed us in so many ways during our adoption journey. And we are forever thankful to the Lord for using our sweet little Joe to move and open our hearts in a way that only He could!
