Fernald’s Adoption Fund

We have teamed up with Gobena Coffee to raise funds for our adoption.  $4 from every item you purchase goes to our adoption fund.  On top of that we have received a matching grant so that $4 becomes $8.  Enjoy the fresh roasted coffee!

Have you heard our adoption testimony?

We felt God calling us to adoption. Psalm 68:5-6 says, “A Father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families…” God has ‘adopted us’ into His family as His children; God makes us members of his family and grants us all the rights, privileges and responsibilities that are included with that. In the same way, we believe that it is our responsibility to follow that same example and share our love and God’s love through an adoption (Romans 8:14-17) We started the process through the US Foster Care system. In the midst of that, we also felt God pulling us toward Orphan Hosting. We prayed and felt led to host a child through New Horizon’s For Children, which is a Christian Hosting program. We all chose the same child, a 13 year old boy from China that they had no information on. Let me say that again….we have 3 girls….he is a 13 year old BOY…God?? What are You doing??

Through nothing else but a God miracle, we hosted him and set out to adopt him because we all fell head over heels in love! But we learned afterwards he wasn’t eligible for adoption. Our hearts were broken, but we still kept trying to adopt through foster care. The Foster Care adoption door closed, and we started praying on the direction God wanted us to go. He opened up an opportunity through Great Wall of China for hosting and we began to prepare to host this summer. However, as God has shown us time and time again, His Ways are not our ways and His Thoughts are not ours- we may plan our path, but God directs our steps! An advocating page for Great Wall of China’s children that were hosted over the winter came up on my Face book page, and there, on the first picture, I saw a little boy, staring at me through the screen, begging me to make him ours. We found out he has mild Cerebral Palsy, a special need we had never considered. We were able to talk to the host mom several times, research his need, talk to a Pediatric Neurologist, and prayed, and prayed, and prayed!! God gave me complete peace about moving forward, but my husband was still having trouble with the notion of how hard this was going to be. And then God started flooding us with Scripture (ISAIAH 35:1-4, ISAIAH 41:9-10, AND 2 CORINTHIANS 6:18 TO NAME A FEW), with friends giving us the same Scripture… and God moved my husband’s heart in a way I had never seen before. And we said, yes God, we will pursue this child You’ve chosen for us. So we started the adoption of Cody, we raised $17,000 within a couple of months (another God miracle!!) and all the doors kept opening to move forward with his adoption.
