Have you heard our adoption testimony?
God is calling the Lee Family to adopt a little girl from China! For years we have felt the gentle tugging at our hearts to adopt. God has been laying on our hearts how comfortable we are here and how we are not stretching ourselves to help others; how it is our duty as His Body to move and do something; how all we have is His….not ours. This is His house, these are His children, and this is His money. We cannot deny it any longer! God is calling us to China to adopt one of his sweet little daughters.
We are adopting a little girl that is in need of a family and in need of Jesus. We are open to a girl with some special needs….specifically needs that could be corrected with the exceptional medical care that our hospitals can provide. We aren’t sure what this will look like (cleft lip/cleft pallet/heart condition) and are having faith that God has a little “Lee” already picked out for our family to love on. We are praying that we will have the peace that passes understanding when it comes to everything involved with operations on a child. Oh, how that will be difficult, but with God all things are possible.
One of the biggest hurdles we had to overcome when making the decision to adopt was how much adoption costs. When our kids (we have 4 biological children) would ask if we were going to adopt, I would say, “Maybe someday, but only if God provides the money!” knowing full well that God would most likely not drop $40,000 in our laps. In hindsight, that was a copout, an excuse to not step out in faith and do what God had been calling us to do for so long. But here we are, adopting a little girl from China! We don’t have the $42,000 we need to make it happen, but we KNOW that God will not call us to something and then leave us to fend for ourselves. He will provide!
We have already done a number of fundraisers. We held a spaghetti dinner and auction which raised close to $11,500. We also benefitted from the generosity of others who organized a number of smaller fundraisers for us, including mini photo sessions, a CornHole Tournament, Jamberry Nails, and Norwex. All together, we have raised close to $17,000. But we are still a long way from $42,000. We are scrimping and saving as much as we can, but we are still coming up short.
Thank you for prayerfully considering this for us. We are excited to bring our daughter home and to have you be a part of making it possible. We can’t wait to meet her!
