School Fund for Winfridah and Lyness

Hi There! I have teamed up with Gobena Coffee to raise funds for the education of Winfridah and Lyness. $4 from each item purchased will go towards their schooling. Thanks for your support and enjoy the fresh roasted coffee.

Have you heard my testimony?

“Mom. I don’t what is going on, but I feel like God might be doing something big. So please just pray.”

I remember the day I first thought about inviting two girls from Zambia to come live with me in northern Indiana. I had known these two for years, and even taught them when I worked at Lifesong School in Zambia a little over a year earlier. Since moving back to the States, I had wrestled with the idea of returning to Zambia at some point, because my heart was still so invested in these kids and teachers and the missionaries who I had grown to love as family. I hadn’t quite imagined God’s plan would be to bring Zambia to me.

I was single. I was about to start a new job in a new town where I did not yet have a place to live. I had no church and a very limited community. Yet in that place of brokenness and transition, God was moving.

So I did what I always do when I feel like God is doing something I can’t possibly explain. I jumped! I started asking questions and doors flew open. Every question was answered with abundance. Before a month had past God had provided a school, a house, a church, and an entirely new community of believers who were already lifting me up in prayer on that first trip back to Zambia, where I would ask two unsuspecting teenagers if they wanted to uproot their entire lives and move to the United States for 5 years.

Since then God has continued to move in beautiful and often difficult ways. My girls, Lyness and Winnie, are freshmen at a small Christian high school where they will, Lord willing, attend until they complete their high school education. We continue to grow closer as a family and they both often amaze me with their dedication to excel in everything they do, whether it be learning to write a paper in MLA format or learning a new dance routine for cheer leading. More than anything I am learning that God’s ways are rarely ever my way… they are so much better.
